In an ongoing effort to honor the memory of General Pulaski and the Independent Legion, we are currently researching more surviving records of the Legion to improve our unit and our interpretation. Some of the current topics of research of interest to the Legion include:
The excavation of a box containing "bones and buttons" during the reconstruction of the Pulaski Monument in Savannah GA and the possibility that the General was not buried at sea as long held but was buried on an island and his bones re-interred in the monument in the 19th century.
Any contemporary article or journal entry containing information about the unit, a detailed uniform description would be our holy grail (Hints for any pot hunters looking to sell us stuff: We have no money and any photographs, no matter how grainy, would generally be discounted.)
Information concerning any burial sites of Legion members, or historical societies which might possess any contemporary maps of areas the legion posted in including, Trenton, Sussex, Morristown and Egg Harbor NJ, Easton (MD or PA) Baltimore, York, Lancaster, Albany NY (recruiting party), Boston (recruiting party), The route taken to Charleston SC, Savannah GA, and areas where Armand's Legion operated from April to November 1780.
In Addition to the above we offer for the viewers consideration some research reports compiled by the membership.
